Butter chicken curry or murg makhani (pronounced [mʊrg ˈmək.kʰə.ni]) is a curry of chicken in a spiced tomato, butter and cream sauce. It originated in India as a curry. The ingredients needed to make Butter chicken:
  1. Prepare 500 gms chicken boneless small cut
  2. Make ready 2 chopped tomato medium
  3. Take 2 onion chopped
  4. Prepare 2 inch chopped ginger
  5. Get 4 garlic cloves
  6. Take 2 green chilli
  7. Get 2 tbsp curd
  8. Take 2 tbsp fresh cream
  9. Prepare 12-15 cashew nuts
  10. Prepare 3 tbsp butter
  11. Prepare 1 tsp turmeric powder
  12. Get 1 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
  13. Take 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  14. Get 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  15. Get 1 tsp fenugreek leaves
  16. Prepare 4 tbsp cooking oil
  17. Take to taste salt

Butter chicken originated from using leftover dry tandoori chicken and giving it moisture with a creamy spiced tomato sauce — plus some butter, and we have butter chicken. Butter Chicken is one of my top five favorite Indian recipes. It's simplified and cooked all in one pan and goes great with a side of rice or naan! Steps to make Butter chicken:
  1. Marination = Add curd, turmeric powder 1/2 tsp,red chilli powder 1/2 tsp,salt in to the chicken mix it properly and keep it aside for 30 minutes.
  2. Masala paste= Heat a pan add 1 tbsp of butter 1 spoon oil and let it melt,add cumin seeds and fry it for fewseconds,add ginger garlic,onion,green chilli and cashews fry it for a minute on low flame,add tomato and fry it on medium flame till it turns little soft 2/3 minutes.
  3. Chicken fry= turn off the flame and take it out in a blending jar let it cool down a beat. Blend it into thick smooth paste do not add water.
  4. Heat oil in pan add marinated chicken fry it on medium flame for 10 minutes, keep flipping the sides,Take out the fried chicken on keep it aside.
  5. Curry preparation = Heat butter in a pan,ads turmeric powder,red chilli powder,coriander powder,and cumin powder mix it and fry the dry spices for a minute on low flame.
  6. Add the blended masala paste mix it and cover the pan cook it for a minute on low flame, add a glass of water and stir it,increse the flame to high and let it come to boli.
  7. Once the curry starts boiling add the fried chicken in the curry and gently mix it,add salt to taste and mix it.
  8. Cover the pan and cook it for 5 minutes on low flame.
  9. Add fresh cream and garam masala powder and mix it.cover the pan and cook it on low flame for 2 minutes.
  10. Meanwhile roast the karuri methi in a pan for 2 minutes. Rub the roasted kasuri methi on your palm and sprinkel in to the curry mix it.
  11. Cover and cook it for another minute on low flame.
  12. Turn off the flame garnish with butter and fresh cream
  13. Serve hot with paratha,kulcha,naan.
